Marathon Florida Fishing Charter – What to Expect in May

| By Captain Jeff Shelar

A Marathon Florida Fishing Charter in the month of May with the good crew of Catch ‘ Em All promises a day out in the sun and fair winds, and of course great fishing.

The windy days of April are a distant memory and the warm temperatures of the waters get the fish in a good mood. They come inshore for food. Tarpon fishing is one of the highlights of fishing in this month. The snook are biting at this time of the year. May is a great month to be in Marathon Florida if you like to go out flat fishing.

For more action, you could ask your Marathon Florida Fishing Charter to take you to deeper waters; to near the bridges where the sheepshead are. Take a light tackle to where the baitfish are frolicking and you should land a good sea trout, if you’re lucky even in four feet of water. The reefs and wrecks are a good hunting ground for kingfish in this month.

Trolling the offshore waters in May is a pleasurable activity; anglers head to the blue waters to try and land wahoo, sailfish, and sometimes even marlin. And from May to August, you have the best chance of hooking swordfish and wahoo in Marathon, Florida.
